In this article, I will share the preparation guide for Hashicorp Certified terraform Associate exam. I will be sharing my youtube playlist as well as some important links which helped me to pass this exam.
About the exam
The HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate (TCA) exam is a certification exam offered by HashiCorp. The exam is designed to test a candidate’s knowledge and skills in using Terraform, an open-source infrastructure as code (IaC) tool.
The TCA exam is intended for professionals who have a basic understanding of cloud computing and infrastructure concepts, and want to demonstrate their proficiency in using Terraform to manage infrastructure resources.

How to register for the exam
To know how to register for Terraform Associate Exam you can refer youtube video or you can refer below steps.
Note — you need GitHub account to register for Terraform Associate Exam.
- Visit the HashiCorp certification page at https://www.hashicorp.com/certification.
- Scroll down to the Terraform section and click on the “Register for Exam” button under the “Terraform Associate” heading.
- You will be redirected to the Terraform Associate exam registration page. Click on the “Click here to go to PSI’s exam platform” button.
- If you already have a HashiCorp account with GitHub, sign in using your GitHub credentials. If you don’t have a GitHub account, create a new one by clicking on the “Create an Account” button and following the prompts.
- Once you’re signed in, you will be asked to provide your personal information, such as your name and email address.
- Next, you will be prompted to select the date and time for your exam. The TCA exam is delivered online and is available 24/7, so you can choose a date and time that works best for you.
- Finally, you will be asked to provide payment information to complete the registration process. The exam fee is $70.
Once you’ve completed the registration process and submitted your payment, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to access the exam on the day of your scheduled appointment.

The exam consists of multiple-choice questions and is delivered online through a proctored platform. The passing score for the TCA exam is 70% or higher, and the exam is valid for two years.
Exam Environemnt
On the day of the exam, ensure that you have a reliable internet connection, a quiet and distraction-free environment, and a fully charged laptop or computer. Review the exam rules and requirements before starting the exam. Please refer exam taker handbook
As I faced some last minutes issues with launching the exam and my exam started 2 hours late, so if you face any problems do not panic and troubleshoot issues. You might face issues while downloading exam software, or system check due to some firewalls or audio/video quality issues.
How to prepare
As I recently passed this exam I can say based on my experience that preparing for the HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate (TCA) exam requires a combination of studying and hands-on expertise with Terraform.
A first thing is to review the exam objectives and ensure that you have a solid understanding of the concepts and topics covered in the exam. You can refer to the youtube playlist and topic-wise documentation required for the exam.
